Blaine Real Estate
Blaine, WA officially incorporated as a town in 1890. Like many Pacific Northwest towns, Blaine was originally a logging and fishing settlement. One of the attractions of Blaine, was its proximity to British Columbia Canada. For those returning from Alaska, Blaine was their first stop in the United States.
Today, Blaine is primarily known as border town. Many locals work for Homeland Security and the US Border Patrol. Presently, Blaine has a booming economy due to the strength of the Canadian Dollar. Canadians are crossing the US border to purchase gas and other commodities that are much less expensive in the US.
Blaine's main draw is currently the Canadian border. The City of Blaine is not large with a population near 5,000. There are many Victorian and Craftsman style homes in the old town parts of Blaine, so there is certainly an opportunity for those interested in purchasing an affordable historical home.
