The best way to determine the property values of homes is by conducting a Comparative Market Analysis (CMA). This is accomplished by studying the property values of homes similar to yours that have recently been listed, sold or expired (preferably in your neighborhood.) Within 6 months is generally considered recent. It is important to work with a REALTORŪ who is knowledgeable about your specific neighborhood to conduct a CMA for you.

It is often the case that there will not be enough comparables to conduct the CMA by using the property values of homes from your neighborhood alone. When this is the case, it is okay to broaden your search to homes around town. After all, homes similar to yours will be your closest competition. By choosing a good REALTORŪ you will have a very good idea of the property value of your home.
